INSPIRATION!  ~ That is what I discovered in Portland at the International Quilt Festival! Inspiration times ten!  After walking the rows and rows of fantastic vendors and designers my head is just spinning with new ideas and focus for my business and my kids (students!).

I went with three of my best girlfriends.  We had a fabulous time hitting the almost 3,000 booths from around the country.  Two of my friends have quilting businesses of their own and Sandi and I have had dreams of going into business together…who knows, maybe someday….

Anyhow, I came home with some great new pattern lines to carry and some fabulous ideas for my kids.  Watch the blog in the future to see what is on its way!

Not only is my website finally here, but a blog is born as well….whew!  Boy, there is a lot of work that goes into creating a website, but I’ll save that for another day!

As this is my first post I thought I’d take a minute to let you know what my intent is with my new blog.  I want to share with you the happenings in my studio while teaching children to sew, as well as what inspires me to sew and to quilt.  Periodically, I’ll focus attention on an individual student and what she has accomplished in class.  Possibly sharing her thoughts about sewing too.  Sometimes I’ll chat a bit about the funny things that happen in class and even the scary things…yes, scary!

I plan to let you in on the classes I attend and the places I go to learn and to grow in my craft.  Even though I have quilted and sewn all my life there is always something to learn and I really like to be on the cutting edge of what is new and in style in the world of quilting and sewing.  Continuing education is important to me as it gives me more knowledge and information to share with my students.   Plus, I enjoy taking classes as it allows me uninterrupted time to sew and to be inspired by the other students and the instructors.

I have a fun group of friends who get together monthly to share our love of quilting and we go on retreats or quilt related trips throughout the year.   I’ll share tidbits about these adventures too.

I hope you’ll find it fun to read and maybe interesting enough to want to follow along….

I am a lifelong sewer and have been crazy about quilting forever!  I started my first quilt when I was thirteen, and pieced it all by hand.
